The Many Moods of Christmas
Description: Greenwood Singers continues its 32-year tradition of exploring the varied facets of music for the Christmas Season with the 2012 edition of The Many Moods of Christmas. From the motets of Renaissance Europe to sparkling arrangements of beloved Christmas carols to favourite popular holiday songs, you won’t want to miss this annual musical celebration of Christmas. The choir will be accompanied by pianist, Helen Stuart; organist, Marnie Giesbrecht; bassist, Jeff Johnson; and percussionist, Murray Smith. The program will also include the lively music making of the University of Alberta Faculty of Education Handbell Ringers.

How Can I Keep from Singing?
Description: Each spring since 1981, Greenwood Singers has presented a program of choral music from Renaissance to Broadway. How Can I Keep from Singing? explores the power of the singing voice. The evening’s program will open with A Mass of Movements selected from settings of the Mass written by composers from the 15th to the 20th centuries, and will also include a cappella hymn settings and five of Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs. The concert will conclude with a medley of songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music.
